Our mission is to provide the foundation for successful learning in a

safe, nurturing, and Christian environment.

Holy Spirit Episcopal Day School (HSEDS) is a small private Christian preschool serving children 6 months through 5 years old. HSEDS has a play-based curriculum that follows Alabama's Standards for Early Learning and Development as well as enjoys elements from the Montessori Method and  Reggio Emilia philosophies. We concentrate on learning through play, exploration, and discovery while also adding lessons with a focus on art, music, and STEM. We have Chapel daily where the children hear stories from the Bible and prayers that promote love, inclusivity, friendship, and kindness. We encourage being big helpers in our local community by participating in service projects and having community helpers visit the school. Our students enjoy social-emotional learning (SEL) and character building activities as well as practical life skills to promote independence.

Our goals for children who attend HSEDS are:

1. to build a strong foundation for their future education

2. create independence and problem solving skills

3. encourage empathy, kindness, generosity, and caring in every child

While we are exempt from licensure requirements because we are a ministry of the church,  we strive to follow the recommendations set by DHR. We have found that we enjoy a smaller teacher to student ratio, when possible, for more meaningful learning and we work to balance the smaller classroom benefits with the needs for childcare in our community.

Our students raise questions and seek answers on their own. They experiment, discover the diversity within themselves and their surroundings, and openly meet new challenges. At the core of our philosophy is the belief that children are naturally curious and driven to learn about the world around them.

Holy Spirit Episcopal Church Agape Garden Project

Holy Spirit Episcopal Day School is building a community garden! We have an incredible opportunity for you to support while honoring loved ones, memorializing those who have passed on and or celebrate your child! The garden will be intergenerational and will serve as point of connection between the church and the day school program. Here is your chance to customize a brick that will be laid in the garden!
